About Me
My wife started to call me Cheap Bastid a while back because I enjoyed coming up with dinners that cost next to nothing--and making them taste good. I'm just a home cook who grew up in a home where cooking was from scratch and was a little bit Midwest and a little bit country. I love to cook and I love to cook good food cheap. And I write about my cooking and my recipes so that I can share them with you.suscribe by e-mail

OK, time for one of my favorites that I just have to have every few months. Homemade old-fashioned meatloaf. Beaver Cleaver used to complain about it. So did Richie Cunningham. But they both ate it—begrudgingly. Their perfect Moms made imperfect … Continue reading

Homemade Beef and Bean Tostadas
As a teenager in the 1960’s I was never exposed to Mexican food—at least until we moved my junior year of high school and a lot of my friends from high school liked to go to “Casa Mora” in Grand … Continue reading
